We are ALL working on our body image. We ALL battle the fear of looking bad in one way or the other. It will be a challenge to transform your perspective even when you realize you have the power to choose your truth. To begin to develop the proper mindset, stop, and recalibrate. Your value as a person is undoubtedly more than skin deep, I don’t know anyone trustworthy who would disagree with that.
HERE ARE PRACTICAL STEPS FORWARD!
You must intentionally CHOOSE to do the work required to clean up our thinking process, and become wholehearted, understand it’s a PROCESS that takes time.
Start by organizing the things you believe (core values). Put what you believe in language, so your values become the foundation that anchors you as you work to refine the way you see yourself.
Next, establish your identity and a sense of purpose outside of your appearance. Why are you on this planet? What value do you bring to your family and community. Where can your talents make a positive impact and help others move forward.
Now, connect your identity and what you believe to what you're doing. Focus on the job at hand or the task to complete, not your appearance. Use your body in a purposeful way and eat food that fuels it properly. Use your body to live out what you say you believe, it’s the vehicle you need to accomplish your goals and live out your purpose. This doesn’t mean you have to quit working to improve your appearance, but it means you are placing more value on your body’s ability to run and perform well.
Eliminate the opinions, influences, and people who define you by your appearance. Surround yourself with people who will encourage and challenge you to live out your values and purpose.
USE THIS MINDSET TOOL! When you are battling the thoughts in your head that you are not enough, YOU MUST respond with thoughts of gratitude, what are you thankful for? Next, put your gratitude into action by doing something purposeful or valuable for someone else. Get outside yourself, your needs, and your ego.
First thought: I’m not enough
Next thought: Gratitude
Response: Do something valuable or purposeful for someone else
Keep Coming Forward!
